VerenA starts the 2025 collection campaign – circular economy in agriculture on a growth path

After two successful campaigns since its launch in 2023, the VerenA system continues its growth trajectory and expands the collection system for agricultural packaging plastics in 2025. The initiative, which focuses on recycling Big Bags as well as, since this year, paper and film packaging from agriculture, aims to strengthen the circular economy, reduce the CO₂ footprint, and promote sustainable solutions in agriculture through efficient take-back and recycling. With a growing number of collection points and a broad partner network, the system continues to expand its infrastructure, ensuring a transparent and sustainable material cycle.

Successful establishment and rising take-back rates
Since its launch, the VerenA system has successfully established itself. In 2024, the take-back service for agricultural Big Bags achieved excellent results. Take-back rates increased steadily: In 2023, around 323.48 tons of Big Bags were returned, and in 2024, VerenA was able to increase this amount by 48.6% to 480.58 tons. A further increase in the take-back volume is planned for 2025.

Expansion of the system: Paper and film packaging from 2025
A significant milestone for the VerenA system is the integration of new packaging materials into the take-back system starting in 2025: paper and film packaging. This will allow agricultural businesses to return their packaging materials in an even more comprehensive way. This expansion contributes to waste reduction and more efficient resource use, offering agricultural businesses a more sustainable solution for the return of their packaging.

Start of the 2025 collection campaign – First collections in February
The 2025 collection season started with the first collection in February. From April, the system will operate at full capacity and remain active until mid-November. This year, over 270 collection points will be available, marking a significant increase from the approximately 200 collection points in the system's launch year of 2023.

A strong partner network for sustainable agriculture
VerenA relies on close cooperation with agricultural businesses, retailers, and recycling partners to make the take-back of packaging materials efficient and to sustainably strengthen the circular economy in agriculture. The main goal remains the reduction of packaging waste, the conservation of valuable raw materials, and the promotion of more environmentally friendly agriculture. According to recent calculations, a promising material recovery rate of 75% was achieved in 2024 – a significant portion of the collected packaging thus found its way back into the material cycle through VerenA.

Join now – Taking responsibility together
"Our goal for 2025 is to further expand the system and increase the collection volumes. The expansion to paper and film packaging marks another important step towards the circular economy. We thank our partners for their continued support and look forward to continuing the collection campaign together next year," said system manager Jens Dambeck.
Agricultural businesses and retailers are invited to actively participate in the 2025 collection campaign and take shared responsibility for a sustainable future.
